Family “Fun” Fitness

When we do things as a family the results are much greater.

Family fitness first starts with the mind, once we put our minds to it, our bodies will follow. Once the children see mom and dad doing it, it makes an impression on them, which makes the transition easier.
Amusement Parks: Family Fitness or “FunFitness” as I called it can be something as simple as going to an amusement park. You’re spending quality time with the family and you’re walking around all day (burning calories). Tip – instead of drinking beverages high in calories and sugar, water will be the healthiest choice as it aids in proper hydration and it will also help you produce natural energy and eat the concession stand foods in moderation.

The Beach: This is another way to enjoy time with your family and get in some FunFitness too.

Running on the beach (Burns 30% more calories)
Play games like beach volley ball
Build a sandcastle
Yoga
Take a dip in the water splash around with your family
Tip: Running on the beach barefoot maybe better as it allows your toes to grip the sand for more stability.

Indoor entertainment: Like a Dave & Buster’s, Chuck E Cheese or Main Event Entertainment is another great way to have family “Fun” fitness. With games like basketball, bowling, laser tag, arcade games; rock climbing as well as gravity ropes billiards and glow golf,  you will begin to burn calories all while having fun. Tip: Drink a lot of water to stay hydrated, which is also a healthier choice over sodas and soft drinks. Eat in moderation, as bar foods tend to be high in calories. Try closing your tab, it will allow you to be more cost conscious (financial fitness) and will discourage you from ordering more than you need. Water is normally free.  Play and enjoy yourself!

Beach safety
Protect yourself and your family from the sun’s harmful UV rays. Find a sunblock that is best for you and your family. No one is exempt from skin cancer. Tip: About 5- 30 minutes (depending on skin tone) in the sun will help your body produce vitamin D.

Also try these activities for family fun fitness.
Walking, Zumba, Hula hooping, Swimming, Jump rope, Basketball, Tennis, WII, PS Move, Xbox Kinects

STRESS MANAGEMENT

With the hustle and bustle of everyday life, some may feel that it is hard to live stress free. You have your family, friends; work, bills errands, etc.; with never enough time in the day to get it all done.  A chaotic environment is a breeding ground for stress.  Too much stress can cause psychological and physical damage, leaving your body vulnerable to different ailments and diseases.

Risk factors associated with stress:

Acne
Depression
Migraines
Insomnia
Mood swings
Heart disease
Weak immune system.
Sexual Dysfunction
Hypertension
Nervous breakdown
Tension headaches
Stomach problems
Weight gain
Mental burnout

Many of the effects of stress on mind and body are due to increased sympathetic nervous system activity and an outpouring of adrenaline, cortisol and other stress-related hormones.

Certain types of chronic and more insidious stress due to loneliness, poverty, bereavement, depression and frustration due to discrimination are associated with impaired immune system resistance to viral linked disorders ranging from the common cold and herpes to AIDS and cancer.

Stress can have effects on other hormones, brain neurotransmitters, additional small chemical messengers elsewhere, prostaglandins, as well as crucial enzyme systems, and metabolic activities that are still unknown.

Now that we know the causes and risk factors associated with stress, here are some stress maintenance tips:
Recognize the problem
Avoid comfort food
Eating right/exercise
Get more sleep
Listen to music
Make time for fun
Make time for you
Learn to let go
Learn to prioritize
Learn to relax your mind/body
Learn how to express your feelings

Serotonin is one of the neurotransmitters in our body that makes us feel good, which is why we tend to crave sugars in a carbohydrate comfort food.

Try to avoid eating comfort foods or practice mindful eating habits.

Some great stress busters are:

Breathing exercises: The way you breathe affects your whole body. breathing exercises are a good way to relax, reduce tension, and relieve stress.

Yoga: Manage stress with yoga; learn relaxation yoga poses in this free instructional video on how to relieve stress with yoga poses and stretches.

Meditate. When you meditate, you focus your attention on things that are happening right now. Paying attention to your breathing is one way to focus. For more information

Write: It may help to write about things that are bothering you. Write for 10 to 15 minutes a day about stressful events and how they made you feel. Or think about starting a stress journal. This helps you find out what is causing your stress and how much stress you feel. After you know, you can find better ways to cope.

What Are YOU Doing To Support Your Immune System?

It’s no secret that your body’s immune system is a critical component to your overall health and well-being.

Your personal health is often a direct reflection of how effective (or ineffective) your immune system is at protecting you from the never-ending exposure and attacks it receives from bacteria and viruses.

Have you ever stopped to think about the type of dangerous and unhealthy microorganisms that might be lurking in these common places?

·         Public washrooms & door handles
·         Airplanes, buses & taxi cabs
·         Hotel rooms & rental cars
·         Public play areas for children
·         Gym equipment & locker rooms
·         Shopping carts and gasoline pump handles
In addition to the common “germs” our bodies encounter on a daily basis, the threat of even more serious bacterial and viral issues seems to be more and more common these days. Think about it. How many news reports have you seen in recent years utilizing words like “epidemic, outbreak or pandemic?”
There’s no doubt that your immune system is engaged in a constant fight to protect you from these potentially harmful and dangerous threats. The most important question is…
What are YOU doing to support your immune system and protect yourself?
To support your immune system for all of its needs, Silver MAX has a unique combination of five characteristics no other silver product can match:
·         Actively charged (bio-active)
·         Easily Absorbed
·         Less is More
·         Perfectly Saf
·         99.999% Pure
If you’re trying to determine the difference between colloidal silver and silver hydrosol, you’ll find this helpful.
While both products have been found to be effective disinfectants and antimicrobial agents, it is important to become aware of the many differences between them. The following chart highlights several of the differences between silver hydrosol and other silver preparations:
